"510 thread" is the connector that made the vape market interoperable. Understanding it explains why almost any cartridge fits almost any battery, and why it matters when you source.
510 thread is a screw connector with ten threads of roughly 0.5 mm pitch (hence "510"). It links a cartridge or tank to a battery. Because the industry settled on it as a de facto standard, a 510 cartridge from one maker screws onto a 510 battery from another, the interoperability that built the oil-vape market.
An open, shared connector means customers are not locked to one brand, fillers can mix hardware, and a battery outlives many cartridges. That network effect is why 510 dominates cannabis oil hardware, and why CCELL and its alternatives all use it.
| Property | 510 thread |
|---|---|
| Connector type | Screw thread |
| Where the name comes from | Ten threads, roughly 0.5 mm pitch |
| What it joins | A cartridge or tank to a battery |
| Standard status | De facto industry standard, not a formal specification |
| Cross-brand fit | Any 510 cartridge fits any 510 battery |
| CCELL | 510, so standard 510 hardware is a drop-in alternative |
| Pod systems | May be 510 or proprietary. Check before you commit |
Pods can be 510 or proprietary; see pod systems. When in doubt, 510 is the safe, universal choice.
